What Is Bromelain?

Bromelain is a proteolytic enzyme that is naturally found in the stem, skin and flesh of the pineapple fruit (Ananas comosus) and aids in protein digestion.

What Does Bromelain Do?

Studies have shown that bromelain has anti-inflammatory, anti-edema, antithrombotic and antitumorogenic effects. In a study conducted in 2010, it is stated that it has a protective effect against cancer. (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19700238/)

It is used in the treatment of calcification in the knees and shoulders, cardiovascular diseases, asthma, chronic sinusitis, colitis and burns. Since it has an edematous effect, it can be used after aesthetic surgery.

It is used as an edema remover for diet and slimming purposes. Although adding pineapple to your diet will be beneficial, 80 mg of bromelain should be taken to see its effectiveness.
