Continuing his studies in the field of obesity and laparoscopic surgery as a general surgeon, Türker Karabuğa MD draws attention with both his success in his field and his researcher identity. Aiming to support Turkey’s breakthroughs in the field of medicine, Karabuğa MD stated that he had more than 3,500 obesity, more than 8 thousand laparoscopic surgeries in 14 years, and that he started research and development studies due to the difficulties he experienced during the operations. Stating that they have applied for patent protection in 108 countries, Karabuğa MD said, “We continue to negotiate with domestic and foreign companies that want to start production. Surgical interventions with an increased success rate will carry Turkey’s prestige to the top in terms of health tourism.
Developing two new gastric balloons, Karabuğa MD emphasized the following: “In case of weight gain 2-3 years after the surgery, there is no solution other than revision surgery. Thanks to the sleeve gastrectomy (tube stomach) sleeve balloon placed in the slightly enlarged stomach, it is aimed to prevent the patients who gain weight and start to gain weight by cutting their appetite without the need for surgery, and to prevent them from gaining more weight.”
Fewer Holes Will Be Drilled
Türker Karabuğa MD has also made an invention that will enable operations to be carried out from fewer holes. Karabuğa MD stated that in laparoscopic bariatric surgery methods, which are generally performed by opening 4 or more holes, more holes are opened from time to time, and said, “Laparoscopic surgical procedures made with fewer holes provide serious advantages in terms of the patient’s recovery time, return to daily life and aesthetics.”
